Description
Dexcom G6 Transmitter is part of the innovative Dexcom G6 CGM System for continuous glucose monitoring. The CGM system acts as an artificial pancreas, eliminating the need for manual insulin injections. The G6 Transmitter connects to the G6 Sensor which is implanted under the skin to collect data and wirelessly send it to the system's display device. The sensor is usually inserted into the abdomen or upper buttocks where movement is minimal to avoid transmission interference. This transmitter is compatible with Dexcom G6 CGM and the Tandem t:slim X2. Both devices update information received from the transmitter every five minutes, eliminating the need for finger sticks and preventing roller coaster highs and lows. Glucose thresholds are programmed into the system by the user.
It is important to note that the Dexcom Continuous Glucose Monitoring G6 Transmitter will only work with the Dexcom G6 Sensor. This transmitter has an expected life-span of 3 months, and a fully charged transmitter will keep a sensor functioning properly for 10 days. A low battery indicator is included.
