Quidel Sofia RSV Test Kit - 20260 Overview
The Sofia RSV FIA Test is an RSV virus detection technique for those aged 19 and younger. In the instance of a positive result, it takes around 3 minutes, and in the case of a negative result, it takes about 15 minutes, allowing a patient to be evaluated, diagnosed, and treated all in one visit. Color-coded and binary results provide a clear positive or negative answer.
This kit has a small learning curve and only requires three steps to complete, lowering the risk of contamination or procedural error. It is not necessary to supervise the test for the entirety of the time it takes to receive findings, due to the simplicity of the testing technique. Each test cassette contains a barcode, which allows the Sofia machines to track it and reduce the chance of error. For children under the age of seven, the Respiratory Syncytial Virus test is CLIA Waived.
