Mipilex Ag Foam Dressings Overview
The Molnlycke Mepilex Ag Foam Dressing is a step beyond the standard Mepilex Foam Dressing with its impregnated ionic silver for maximum bacteria management. This silver dressing is available in a variety of sizes but the flexible foam material can be cut to fit as well. The foam is moisture-permeable and reduces the risk of maceration with its ability to manage wound exudate while the silver handles harmful bacteria to fight infection. Ionic silver embedded within the foam is designed for sustained release.
Mepilex Ag features Molnlycke's proprietary Safetac layer technology, which is a soft, silicone adhesive layer that will seal the wound margin without harming the skin. This means dressing changes are easier and won't disturb or cause pain in the wound or the periwound skin, reducing stress on the patient and caregiver.
The Mepilex Ag Silver antimicrobial foam dressing is packaged sterile. The dressing can be left in place for up to seven days, depending on wound characteristics. A similar foam dressing with silver technology is the Aquacel AG.
