Overview

Drive Medical's Balanced Aire self-adjusting mattress is a non-powered air mattress designed to help prevent pressure ulcers in both home and long-term care settings. According to the manufacturer, the Balanced Aire can help to prevent and treat various types and stages of pressure ulcers. It does this in a few ways. First, it offers a high-density foam perimeter for support that also aids in protecting patients during transfers. Next, the built-in heel slope redistributes pressure away from vulnerable heels. The mattress's self-adjusting air cells can recognize body weight and pressure, which allows it to improve comfort. Also, the self-adjustment can be set for either open-cell or closed-cell use. Lastly, the antimicrobial, antifungal cover is fluid-resistant, vapor-permeable, and prevents shear forces on the user.

The mattress cover is latex-free and comes with a Visco foam layer on top to provide additional comfort and heat dissipation. Use with Allevyn Life foam dressings to help with ulcer care. The Balanced Aire can also be used with Dermatherapy bed sheets that reduce shear forces and provide wicking and quick-drying capabilities to reduce maceration. This product meets CFR1632 and CFR1633 flammability standards.

How to Clean

• Pre-test cleaning agent on small area before full use to ensure compatibility.
• Wipe surface with neutral detergent and lukewarm water.
• Rinse with lukewarm water and dry thoroughly.
• If using washing machine, wash with cold setting without bleach.
• Tumble dry with low heat until completely dry.
• To disinfect, wipe with quaternary solution or 1:10 bleach/water solution; do not oversaturate.
• Wipe up excess after chosen solution's recommended sanitation time.
• Phenolics may be used on bottom vinyl cover, not on top cover.
